HOW DO WE "WALK IN HIM?"

Colossians 2:6 tells us that for those that have “received Christ Jesus the Lord”, they are to “walk in Him”. What does this look like in the life of a believer –the one who received Him as Lord? How can we practically “walk in him” and what is our purpose or reasoning in doing this?

HOW DO WE “WALK IN HIM” IN OUR DAILY LIVES?

We trust that by accepting and receiving Jesus as our Lord and Savior we have been given the greatest gift we will ever receive.

God loved us so much that He sent His one and only Son to be the sacrifice for all our sins. And because of this, when we receive Him as our Savior we are forgiven, made new, and promised eternity with Christ.

John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Our responsibility is to accept and receive Salvation in Jesus and share the same truth with the world around us.

We believe that we are rooted in Him.

To be rooted in Jesus means that because of our connection to Him, we begin to grow day by day into the person that we were created to be. As we seek Him, our foundation is continually strengthened because of His power working in us.

John 15:4-5 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.

Acts 20:32 And now I commend you to God and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified.

Our responsibility is to seek Him through time spent in prayer and Bible reading.

Have confidence that you are built up in Him.

Being rooted in Jesus creates a strong foundation for our lives based on His truths. Therefore, we are to live our lives in agreeance with the living Word of God. And as we grow in truth we are built up and matured by Jesus working in our lives.

Ephesians 2:20-22 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.

Jude 1:20 But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit

Our responsibility is to listen to the convictions of the Holy Spirit and live our lives in accordance with the Scriptures out of our love and devotion to the One who saved our souls.

Know that your faith is established in Him.

As our roots grow and we are built up in Jesus through our faith and trust in Him, we grow into mature Christians. With this growth, a firm foundation is established. By resting in the goodness of Christ we can walk victoriously through the challenges and trials of life.

2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word.

Romans 8:28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

Our responsibility is to walk through the mountaintops as well as the valleys trusting that God is always good, and His ways are perfect. Victory is not prevailing in the eyes of the world but instead during life’s most difficult moments we find our comfort in the sovereignty of a Holy and perfect God.

Have you received Christ as the Lord and Savior of your Life?

Are you walking in Him?

Are you seeking Him?

Are you believing and trusting in His faithful promises?

Have you agreed to build your life upon the person He has called you to be?

And are you sharing these life-changing truths of the Gospel with those around you?

As followers of Jesus Christ, we have received the power of His Spirit that is working in our lives. We have been given a purpose, a calling, and a responsibility. With faith rooted securely in Him, the wisdom of the Bible that was inspired by God, and an urgent commitment to boldly share with others the best news that they will ever hear, we can make a difference in the lives of those around us for here –for eternity –abounding in thanksgiving –all for the glory and honor of the One True God.
